As September closes, we are celebrating some wonderful stories of hope and joy at Hospice Plett. It has been a grueling year for one and all, and we are grateful to share this exciting news with you as we mark the arrival of Spring and all its beauty.
Vaccine Rollout Support
The Challenge Fund

Sr. Marlene and Sr. Dorett doing their part.
Have you had your Covid-19 vaccine?
If you have, you may have seen some of our team members assisting with the vaccination rollout at the clinics in and around Bitou. Our team is helping by coordinating people at the vaccination site, pre-screening, administering the vaccinations, capturing data, and even helping with transport during outreach days.
Our involvement in the programme is made possible by funding from The Challenge Fund (sponsored by the DG Murray and Tshikululu Trusts), and in coordination with Dr. Anel Scholtz, who is heading up the rollout in the Bitou area.
For an updated list of vaccination sites, please see out Bitou Vaccination Schedule.
Welcome Russel Braum
Our New Assistant GM

Russel Braum | Assistant GM
The team at Hospice Plett has grown significantly over the past 3 years. Our reach is greater than ever, and we are seeing more and more people through our Community Wellness and Palliative Care programmes. With this growth in operational staff, comes the need for increased support at an administration level.
It is with great pleasure that we introduce our new Assistant GM, Russel Braum. Russel has spent the bulk of his career managing various Food & Beverage operations in hotels and restaurants. He has managed the opening of several high-profile restaurants, including The Big Easy in the Durban Hilton, and the hugely successful Chefs Table Restaurant in Umhlanga.
With his experience in the multifaceted nature of hospitality management, website development and online marketing, Russel jumped in feet first and has already had a huge impact on how the admin support department operates and enable our nurses, community health carers and counsellors to provide quality service to the Bitou community. We are confident that Russel is the right person to help propel Hospice Plett onward and upward.
WELCOME Russel!
Brand New Bakkie
Latest addition to our fleet

Our fleet travels an average of 440km per day
Reaching the people in our community is one of the challenges we face daily. Our nurses and health care workers care for people in their homes, and often must travel significant distances in a day to reach everyone in our care.
With our team growing as it is, we quickly found that the number of vehicles in our fleet was simply not enough to cover their travel needs. So, with the help of the National Lotteries Commission, we were able to purchase a brand-new Nissan NP200 bakkie! It has been an absolute godsend, and we are now able to transport much needed equipment like hospital beds, patient hoists and oxygen concentrators to the patients that need it most.
A huge shout out must go to Riaan Kritzinger and the team at NISSAN KNYSNA for the incredible service. They went out of their way to make sure the vehicle was kitted out with all the bells and whistles to make sure our drivers are comfortable while getting around the communities.
If you are in the market for a new or pre-owned vehicle, please do visit NISSAN KNYSNA at 56 Main Road, Knysna. You can also browse their stock on their website: www.knysnanissan.co.za
