Hilary Matthews Contemplation Garden

By June 7, 2023News

The Contemplation Garden will primarily be used as a place of calm reflection for our patients, their families and our staff and during bereavement counselling. For this reason, the design is driven by symbols of protection, serenity and peace, both physical and spiritual. The plantings will include medicinal and fragrant herbs as well as material that will attract birds to the garden. Robbie Leggat, the renowned local sculptor, has agreed to create the focal structure, a symbolic wishing ‘tree’ that will provide shade and shelter for visitors to the garden. Anyone who would like to display gratitude or wishes to remember a loved one will be welcome to hang a token of their choice in the tree.

If you would like to contribute to this garden, we need the following:

  • Compost
